There are so many different diet programs and fat loss strategies that you’re bombarded with everyday. I know it can be challenging to know what really works and what doesn’t.
So today I’m sharing 3 diet myths that may actually be preventing your fat loss.
Myth#1: Is To Avoid All Carbs
Carbohydrates have been labeled as the cause of increased body fat and that label is not 100% accurate. The fact is, you should eat carbs. The key is to choose the right carbs.
You want to avoid simple carbs which are the bad ones - these are the refined white flours, white rice, white potatoes, refined sugars and processed foods. They have little if any nutrition value and all they actually do is spike blood sugar and promote fat storage.
Choose healthy starchy carbs in moderation. These would be whole grains, sweet potatoes, lentils, beans and brown rice.
Eat tons of vegetables in a rainbow of colors with an emphasis on green leafy veggies.
Myth #2: Eat Pre-Packaged Diet Foods
No, No and NO!
More time than not, these “diet foods” are filled with refined sugar, fat and other artificial ingredients in order to mask the poor taste. And as you know sugar, extra fat and artificial ingredients will block your bodies ability to shed fat.
Always choose real, whole foods that are nutrient dense.
Myth #3: Workout More
As a health and fitness coach you might find it hard to believe that I’m saying not to increase your exercise. But here’s why.
If you are someone who is dealing with an adrenal imbalance - adding more physical activity can actually cause you to store more belly fat.
And I’m sure some of you can relate to this. You workout hard and have been doing so for many months and even years but you cant seem to get the weight off or lose your belly.
Well, you shouldn’t be training harder you should be training smarter.
if you are suffering from an adrenal imbalance...intense, long workouts add stress to your body. And stress of any kind causes you adrenal gland to be over worked and this increases cortisol which is the hormone that makes you store belly fat.
Now if you think this might be you and you’d like help figuring out the best plan of action to turn this around. You can shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can help you create your fat loss plan.
