Detoxifying Your Liver for Fat Loss

Did you know that the word liver is named after the Old English word for “LIFE”?

 

And it makes complete sense because the liver plays a very important part in the health of our bodies.

 

Today I am going to share the importance of detoxifying your liver for optimal fat loss.

 

Every fat burning hormone in our body is processed through the liver. The liver regulates fat storage, metabolizes fat and is  responsible for controlling blood sugar, producing proteins, cleansing blood, and producing energy… amongst other things.

 

And with so many responsibilities the liver can become stressed and burdened by the various toxins that it has to filter out of the body everyday. 

 

When the liver gets out of balance its unable to cleanse the toxins from the body effectively. This can lead to autoimmune disorders.

 

Think of it like an air filter in an air conditioner. The dirtier and more clogged the filter gets the harder the air conditioner has too work and the the less effective it is at cooling the room down. 

 

So the more toxic and dirty your liver is… the harder it is for your body to work effectively as well.

 

The liver is also directly linked to the bodies inability to shed fat adequately. The liver plays a major part in blood sugar control, fat storage and metabolism. All of which are key components of fat loss. 

Fat loss becomes much more challenging when you have a stressed and out of balance liver.

 

And when you have issues like high cholesterol, high blood pressure, food allergies, skin conditions and digestive problems like bloating and gas…these are often times symptoms or side effects of a stressed or out of balance liver.

 

There are also environmental factors such as impure water and pollution that produce toxins that effect our body. Although we don’t have much control over this area we can minimize our exposure by using water filters and using natural products when at all possible.

 

When it come to what we consume …we actually do have more control. Things like artificial sweeteners, animal fats, alcohol, caffeine and medications should be minimized and even eliminated if possible. 

 

Choose fresh fruits and veggies that are organic when you can, and choose those that are known to help flush toxins from the liver. Beets, grapefruit, cranberry, cruciferous veggies like broccoli, kale &  cauliflower, green leafy veggies, garlic, turmeric and  lemon are all great foods for the liver. 

 

When you cannot consume organic fruits and vegetables be sure to clean them thoroughly. In the description section of this page there is a link that shows you how to clean your fruits and vegetables to get rid of the toxic contaminants.

 

Physical activity is also a plus for liver detoxification. By increasing circulation in the body with a minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity everyday you’ll help your liver to work better to flush out toxins by increasing blood flow. 

 

Even deep breathing exercises, yoga and tai chi are great ways to increase oxygen flow and circulation throughout the body.

 

Often times people don’t even realize  that their liver is over stressed. There are many symptoms that can point to a stressed liver, like the ones I mentioned earlier.
